Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Office (LLRWMO) was established in
1982 to carry out the responsibilities of the federal government for
low-level radioactive waste
(LLRW) in Canada. Atomic Energy of Canada Limited
operates the Office through an agreement with Natural Resources Canada.
The LLRWMO carries out cleanup and interim remedial work at historic
waste sites in Canada, and constructs, operates and performs environmental
monitoring of waste storage facilities until a long-term solution is
available. The LLRWMO conducts typical research and
strategic investigations in support of policy set by Natural Resources
Canada.
Duties:

Respond,
by preparing Radiological Status Letters, to inquires for information
regarding radiological status of properties made by property owners or
their agents (i.e. under the LLRWMO's Property Compliance Program).
Administer
the program by which the LLRWMO routinely monitors construction and soil
excavation activities within Port Hope, Ontario.
Maintain
and update the LLRWMO database containing historical and current field
survey data pertaining to several thousand properties in Port Hope, as
well as in Scarborough, Elliot Lake, Bancroft and Toronto. Future
LLRWMO projects are expected to result in substantial updating
requirements for the current database.
Qualifications:

Relevant
post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and
experience related to physics, applied mathematics or other physical science
field (but with courses in these disciplines) is desirable, with a minimum
of two years experience performing technical analyses or technical work
requiring applications oriented programming and use of computers.

Demonstrated
ability to perform work accurately while maintaining acceptable
progress toward project completion.
Knowledge
of radioactivity and radioactive waste management is desirable.
Good
judgment,
communication skills, and interpersonal skills are required.
