Procurement
All
purchasing and contracting conducted by the Low-Level Radioactive Waste
Management Office complies with policies and principles established by
Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL), a federal Crown Corporation:
- We
(AECL) are profit oriented and operate as a commercially viable company;
- We
ensure value for money in fulfilling our day-to day duties and
responsibilities;
- We
are committed to integrity, honesty and respect in all our dealings;
- We
ensure that qualified sources of supply are available to support our
business and that contracts are let to suppliers who demonstrate that
they can meet our requirements in the most cost effective manner.
Procurement
procedures of interest
- Proposals/quotations
are generally solicited by invitation on a competitive basis.
- Bidders
lists are developed using a variety of sources, including: past
experience of AECL and it’s staff; trade journals, directories and
internet sources; and a vendors’ file developed by the LLRWMO.
- Bidders
are pre-qualified as a means of establishing an appropriate number of
best-suited firms when an unreasonable number of potential bidders
exist.
- Proposals/quotations
are evaluated and the successful supplier is determined on the basis of
the lowest technically acceptable offer or the best balance of
expertise, capability and cost.
- AECL/LLRWMO
treats all offers as confidential.
- All
communication with bidders is managed through the AECL/LLRWMO
procurement organization.

Firms
