Port Hope Area Initiative

Answer #11

What is Property Value Protection?

The Property Value Protection (PVP) Program is part of the Port Hope Area Initiative. The program is designed to compensate property owners if they suffer financial loss on the sale of their property, loss of rental income or mortgage renewal difficulties as a result of the Initiative. For example, the PVP Program will compensate the owner of a property at the time of its sale if an increase in truck traffic related to the cleanup temporarily affects its value. The program is currently in effect and will run to about 2015.
