On-going Monitoring Services

In the urban area of Port Hope, the following interim waste management programs are offered:

Construction Monitoring Program (CMP): The LLRWMO operates the CMP to prevent the possible spread of contaminated soil. Any project requiring a building permit is automatically referred to the CMP. Those undertaking other excavation activities are encouraged to request this no-fee service. For details, click here.

Property Compliance Program: The LLRWMO provides information on the radiological status of properties on request from property owners, their real estate agent or lawyer. The Radiological Status Letter provides a summary of existing information from earlier surveys. Information is updated if required. The service is offered free of charge to Port Hope property owners.

Routine Environmental Monitoring: The LLRWMO regularly monitors the environment in the vicinity of major licensed and unlicensed historic low-level radioactive waste sites in the Municipality of Port Hope.
